In the USA, the Sky Is NOT Falling!
April 9, 2020
From Ahvie Herskowitz, MD
When we compare USA mortality with the top European countries, this is what we see!
When you look at USA State data, this is what we see!
We have REGIONAL challenges in the USA, and even in NY, new hospitalizations — but our best measures of future deaths are declining!
Within the USA, the top 10 states with 150 million population have 81% of the total USA deaths (1 per 12,800 persons). Remaining 40 states with 180 million population have 19% of all deaths (1 per 65,800 persons).
With these relatively low-risk numbers in much of the USA, we NEED TO TEST A RANDOM SAMPLING OF THE POPULATION TO UNDERSTAND THE INFECTIVITY RATE! WE NEED TREATMENT OPTIONS! AND WE NEED TO DIVERT RESOURCES TO EMERGING HOT SPOTS LIKE NURSING AND ELDERLY CARE, JAILS AND DETENTION FACILITIES!!
OTHERWISE WE SIT AND WAIT FOR… ?????
